![]() ![]() Having the chance to update this great title and release it on PS3 is just a brilliant opportunity, not least for us, but for the fans too.” Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is the first project in what we believe will be a long and fruitful relationship. Stewart Gilray, Managing Director of JAW, said: “Since word got out that we’ve been working with Oddworld Inhabitants there have been many rumours circulating about what we’re working on. The game will be made available as a digital download via PlayStation® Network. Originally released in 2005, first- and third-person action-adventure Stranger’s Wrath marks the multi-million-selling series’ first appearance on a PlayStation® console since 1998’s Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus. Release from JAW's website: " Do be a Stranger – Oddworld returns! OTLEY, WEST YORKSHIRE, UK – 3rd September, 2010 – Just Add Water (JAW) is thrilled to announce the return of the critically-acclaimed Oddworld series – with an enhanced remake of the award-winning Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath coming to PlayStation®3 next Easter. Rubbing it in or what! Needless to say, i'm happy about getting a chance to play this properly, and Move support is a pleasant surprise. I briefly saw it a friend's house, but he never bothered finishing the game himself. I've always loved the Oddworld games for their style and atmosphere, but me having a PS2, I never got to play this back in the day. It will have remastered dialogue, PlayStation Move support, and "plenty" of brand new bonus content. It will feature 720p visuals, with graphics improved across the board with more detail and effects. Today, September 3rd, we see the first fruits of this partnership, with JAW announcing on their website that an enhanced remake of Stranger's Wrath will arrive download-only on the PS3, scheduled for next easter. Back in July, it was announced that UK-developer Just Add Water were partnering with Oddworld Inhabitants, with a multitude of products in development across several platforms. Over the coming weeks and months, we will be back to talk to you more about the PS3 version of Stranger’s Wrath, including other updates and additions to the game we are making.Great news for me. This little guy is my favourite, the Chippunk, cause he’s a wise-cracking chipmunk-like guy! So the critters sit on your crossbow and talk to you, then when the time’s right, you press the trigger and send them on their way. And by “live” we really mean that – your ammo are little critters with special abilities, and at times the damned things even back chat you. To do this, you don’t use a gun but LIVE ammunition. In Stranger’s Wrath you play a bounty hunter, tracking down various villains and capturing them. These guys are afraid of their own shadows and mistrust anyone, especially a tall Stranger that comes into their settlement, but is there a reason for that? Their story unfolds farther in the game. A lot of my passion for this game is the story and the script, there is so much humour in there that you can’t help but laugh out loud at times! The guy pictured above is the Store Keeper, he runs the General Store where you get to buy ammo and upgrades, and is always wise cracking, ahem, with you. We’re updating every character in the game in similar style, and today I’d like to introduce you to a couple more.įirst up we have the Clakkerz, the general population from the towns at the start of the game all the way to New Yolk City. You’ll no doubt have seen the visual update we’ve done to the main character, Stranger. Not only are we revamping various aspects of the game such as texture resolution, user interface and game audio, but we’re also overhauling the character models. ![]() ![]() Recently there have been a whole raft of HD remakes coming to the PS3, and to be able to work on this project and take the definition of “HD Remake” to the next level has been a dream come true. You may have heard of this game before – it was originally released in March 2005, but we’re doing an HD remake for PSN. During the summer we started working exclusively on Oddworld projects, and I’m here today to talk about the first title we announced: Oddworld Stranger’s Wrath. Long time no see! Since Gravity Crash Portable was launched we’ve kept our heads down while working on a bunch of stuff. ![]()
